Corrupt .dng files Lightroom 2.6.1

I’m confronted by a major problem with several hundred files which were showing as “damaged” in LR 2.6.1. and which can’t be accessed by ACR or Bridge in CS4.

Symptom one – although there was a thumbnail, if you tried to view images at 100% there was an error message telling me that the file was damaged.

Symptom two – I tried removing them from the data base and re-importing and get the message: “The files appear to be unsupported or damaged”.  I FEAR that these are files which were imported “as DNGs” during a period when I had this as a default.  They’re a mix of Leica M9 and Canon 5D mk2 images.

Does anyone have any idea of how I might be able to fix these files?  I may have backups on another system at our second home (I keep a parallel universe there… ), but in London, where I am at the moment, I’ve got 6 weeks worth of DNGs that I can’t use.  I’ll be happy to post the DNGs to an FTP site if anyone’s interested in having a look at them.

REALLY hope there’s a solution here.

Thanks

Chris
