CS5 Bridge Keywords disappear

I know this has been talked about on the MAC and PC forums for Bridge and has been an issue with CS3 up to CS5.  However, it does not seem to be getting any attention from Adobe.

I have gone through the Mac  and Win forums from CS3 to CS5 and there are multiple listings of people  losing their keywords.  I just lost mine again, after rebuilding them  about two weeks ago.  On another call, 3782474, Paul graciously produced a script to build your existing keywords.  You still have to reenter  them!  Adobe, PLEASE fix this issue.  I copied the keyword file and  saved it to a backup location. When I lost my file this last time, I  restored that file.  It stll did not work!  I have not upgraded any  Adobe products, other Window products or any patches.  The only thing I  have been doing for the last couple of weeks is editing photos and going  from one storage drive to another within Bridge to locate photos.  I’m  afraid if I lose the one that I just recreated manually that I will no  longer use Bridge since this is one of the features that attracts me to  it.  I’m sure there are other products that will provide keyword search.

Adobe, I hope you are reading this thread and take control.  I am running on Windows 7 and Bridge CS5.

Thanks

Bob

folders opening in bridge by default instead of explorer

hi,
Recently i installed adobe photoshop cs5 extended. After installing now when i  try to open any folder by double clicking on it, it opens in adobe  bridge..  I have to right click on the folder and then OPEN, then only it opens in explorer. It’s very annoying when you want to open your folders and bridge comes out opening it. This problem was not there when i was using photoshop cs4.

I tried the Default file associations in control panel but couldnt find the folder extension. I have re-registered the shell library but no effect.

I also tried Folder option in control panel and reset it to default but no effect.

I also tried registry cleaner and fixer but same result.
How could this be changed so that when i open any folder by  double clicking on it, it will open as usual in windows explorer.

OS: win7-ultimate.

Downloader doesn’t retain previous settings

Can Bridge Downloader be set to always open with the advanced dialog box and can it be set to retain the previous settings?  Also, is there a Preferences for the Downloader?  I can see it listed in the menu, but it’s ghosted.

It would be a real time-saver if I didn’t have to re-enter all the info each time I open the Downloader — and then start all over again because I missed something and it downloads to the wrong drive/folder or creates dated folders when I don’t want them or doesn’t enter copyright info in metadata… you get the idea.

Thanks for any help with this.

Lightroom 2 – getting grainy/pixelated look after editing photos

Hi Everyone,

Im new at this whole editing process but am really liking lightroom.

For ages, (and i have no idea why) but my default program to view photos was Adobe photoshop album starter. After i would edit a photo from that was originally say 6MB some would then become around 9MB and viewing them in adobe photoshop album starter would make them look very grainy and pixelated. I have now changed my default viewer to Windows media gallery and they look fine..

However, i would love to know why they look grainy in the album starter? And if there would be a solution to fixing this so they look normal on everything? Is there something i am doing wrong?

As i look at other photos through the album starter that have been edited, but not from me and they look normal? Files no larger then 6MB though.

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks

Adobe Updater ask me to update to Bridge CS5 4.0.2 after applying Bridge CS5 4.0.3 Update

Downloaded the Bridge CS5 4.0.3 updates from Macupdate and Adobe Download Update site, and have installed it. The installation process went fine, and Adobe CS5 4.0.3.9 as shown in the About dialog, run fine.

However, when I hit “Updates” from Bridge CS5 Menu, the Adobe Auto Updater started and prompted me to upgrade to Adobe Bridge CS5 4.0.2.

Version 4.0.2 is the prior version on my Mac before applying the new upgrade to 4.0.3.

If I hit Update, Adobe Auto Updater will download Bridge CS5 4.0.2 and install fail.

I think 4.0.3 update is not yet integrated into Adobe Auto Updater.

Please fix this! Or I’m the only one who have this problem?

Why no Contact Sheet options in Bridge from CS5.5 UK

I have searched and searched, but could find nothing on this issue. I tried to call Adobe Support, but they said I had to pay as we have a volume license! We’ve only had the product 2 weeks!

Anyway, in Bridge you used to be able to select the Ouput module and have options for making a PDF contact sheet. I get nothing. I thought perhaps it was a corrupt installation, so I tried another Mac, but the same thing. I thought perhaps it was the vesion of CS5.5 (Design Standard) so I tried another Mac with Web Premium. Same thing. I vaguely remember reading something about some modules don’t work for all localized versions yet, but I couldn’t verify that anywhere.

If anyone could shed some light on this I would be really grateful.

Bridge’s Parent Application is Not Active, Bridge Requires That a Qualifying Product Has Been Launch

Has anyone figured out how to fix this?  Tried  fixes & I still can not open RAW files from Bridge or Photoshop CS5.  I upgraded the Camera RAW plug-in and downloaded all fixes  for Photoshop CS5 ( done automatically through Adobe updater) so program is up to date.  I can open RAW files from mini bridge if I right click the photo BUT if I take the photo back to Bridge I can not open it there. ( I could do this before the upgrades so this is not different ). I have windows 7 professional 32 bit. I tried DNG files & .cr2 files.

In Photoshop CS4 I had the same problem ( almost the same error message…bridge requires a qualify product to be launched at least once… Camera RAW) and it was never fixed but I didn’t understand the advantages of working in camera RAW. So it may be the same glich if I had it in CS4 & CS5. Thanks in advance for your help.

Error Msg: Running low on memory.

I keep getting this error msg:  ‘Bridge is running low on memory.  It is recommended that Bridge is restarted.’  I am running a Mac OSX 1T and also use an external hard drive.  I purged cache for the current folder, purged cache in ACR, tried refreshing my preferences by hitting option when opening Bridge, and raised my cache size to about 250,000 and nothing has worked!  Please help!!!!!

How to automactically label aproved images?

Hi,

Let me explain:

Im a wedding photographer, and I send thousands of photos to my client. Later on, the bride sends me a word text file, with all the photo numbers she would like to have included in her album.

Now at days, I print this list, and go one by one, labeling each photo with one color, so I can filter it and start working on her album.

I believe there must be a easier way of doing this… I believe if there is a way bridge could “read” the data of this word text file and automactically select the photos.

Thank you!

Ricardo

CS5 Bridge APD settings

My mother has just bought Photoshop CS5 which comes with Bridge CS5.1. She has Windows 7, 32-bit.

I was showing her how to use “Get Photos from Camera…”.Adobe Photo Downloader (APD) opened with the Standard screen and so I clicked on the Advanced button to set up the import folder, renaming options and metadata.  Images (jpgs) downloaded fine.

When I went back into the APD, instead of showing the Advanced screen, it showed the Standard screen and when I clicked on Advanced, it had lost all the settings. I tried it again, trying to import RAW files to see if that made a difference.  It didn’t. I closed Bridge and re-opened it and tried again, but it still didn’t work.

I have CS5 Design and when I use Bridge APD, (on Windows XP or Windows 7) it not only alway opens up the Advanced screen, it remembers all my settings.

How do I have my mother’s version do that?

Adobe DNG Profile Editor

Has there been any update to this beyond that in 2008 found on Adobe Labs? (I want to try using it to calibrate ACR for my camera with a shot of a MacBeth Color Chart.)

To be more precise about this, I currently use ACR Calibrator to calibrate ACR for my Canon 1Ds II. I now see there is beta 3 of Adobe DNG Profile Editor but note that it utilises a small subset of the GMB Digital Colorchecker SG target chart.

ACR Calibrator seems to produce quite different results from Adobe DNG Profile Editor.  I have followed the steps below when using the latter.

Download DNG Profile Editor and drag to Applications
Launch Photoshop and open the raw file of your macbeth target.
In camera raw, place all settings to zero, curve to linear and turn off any sharpening etc. Click Save Image, choose dng as the file format and save it.
Launch DNG Profile Editor.
File / Open DNG File and choose the dng file you saved previously.
Select the chart tab in DNG Profile Editor.
Move the colored circles to the center of the matching colored corner square in your raw file
Click Create Color Table.
Choose File/Export <Camera> profile…  Give it a name and save.
Exit DNG Profile Editor.
Re-launch photoshop and open a raw file.  In Camera Raw, on the calibration tab, you should now see the profile you just saved.

I have windows XP with 4G ram. When I try to convert raw files to 16 bit tiff files I get the message “Insufficent memory”.

I am unable to process my raw files from a Canon 5D mk2.

I have no other programes running in the background.

ACR: .dng > .jpg How to prevent highlights from blowing out yet again?

How can a .dng in ACR be “Saved As” a .jpg without the .jpg process blowing out the highlights all over again?

The affected images have to be tweaked yet again in ACR.

How do I turn off Photoshop Elements Welcome Tour?

Everytime I start Photoshop Elements 8 I get stuck in an endless loop of the “Welcome to Photoshop Elements” screen.  There is no close button or link.  The only way I have found to get past it is by clicking on “Show me what is new”, then “Start Tour” then clicking the right arrow until a GO link appears.  Then it finally closes.  I have to do this every time I start Photoshop and it is annoying to say the least.  Any help would be appreciated.

A second issue is with the “Backup/sync”.  Somehow this got turned on, and it uploaded 2 gig of my photos to somewhere in cyberspace.  Now when I start Photoshop it always nags me to buy more space online.  Since backup just causes an hourglass when you start Elements, I had to go to the task manager and kill the upload/sync 32 process manually, then turn off the backup sync in preferences, but still the message to buy more space online appears.  Also, can I remove the uploaded files?  I didn’t want them uploaded in the first place.

I miss Elements 5.0 already…

Thanks again,

Mike

Tweaking chromatic aberration correction

Lens Correction in ACR 6.1 was a very welcome addition for me. I used to spend a lot of time fixing chromatic aberration, both manually and with Presets. I find that fixing lateral CA goes a long way towards improving image sharpness, so I’m a bit of a stickler for it. So, when 6.1 came along, I was keen so see what it could do for CA correction. I’ve been impressed, but, whilst CA is reduced, it’s not removed, and I almost always have to fine-tune the correction manually.

I have found that, even with pro lenses, I have to dial in significant (6–18) points of manual CA adjustment, and often very similar amounts. I have experimented with changing CA “correction amount” defaults, but it doesn’t seem to help.

So, three questions:

1. is this expected behaviour, even for pro lenses?

2. if so, will improved profiles ever be made available?

3. is there any way I can “built in” offsets to lens profiles by default, to minimise having to use Presets or manual adjustment?

Thumbnails in Bridge don’t show adjustments made to image

I have Photoshop CS4 on a Macbook Pro, OS 10.6.7.

After I open a raw image (DNG & PEF) in Bridge and make adjustments, such as cropping or adjusting exposure, the changes do not show in Bridge thumbnails after I close the image.  It thumbnails work fine with jpeg and TIF images. I have reinstalled Photoshop CS4, but it did not correct the problem with raw images. How can I fix the problem? Thanks.
