Hi…
I’m a Photoshop Elements 7 newbie… I can’t drag and drop images (jpeg, tiff, Olympus RAW) from Windows Explorer (file explorer and not IE) to Photoshop Elements like I can in Corel Paint Shop Pro X2? It also works in Corel Painter IX.5 & ArtRage 3 (except for RAW)… My operating system is Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit…. I’ve uninstalled and re-installed Elements but to no avail. I’ve also tried to run Elements under various compatability modes but still no luck….
Any ideas?
It’s driving me nuts…
Thanks kindly
Ken

I can’t believe I can’t figure this out. (I came over from Freehand, and it was simple).
All I want to do is:
1) Crop a placed photo within Illustrator
2) Create a border around it.
I can’t seem to find the answer in any help file. Is it so simple in Illustrator that they don’t explain how to do it? I don’t want to create crop marks for the entire image, just crop off part of a photo without going back into Photoshop. How?
Thanks very much.
Mark

Hello.
I’m producing an artwork, working in high resolutions.
The new artboard functions in Illu CS5 is really great for my purpose, but when placing my
photoshop images (around 25K x 15K), Illustrator crashes almost every time.
The only format, that doesn’t make it crash, is Photoshop EPS.
But that won’t let me keep my transparancy (PSD or TIFF without transparancy also crashes).
I could split up the images, but still think it’s really strange, this should be nescessary.
Thx for any advice / explanation
Morten

I’ve noticed my Kuler panel resized itself when I launched Illustrator CS5 the second time. It is too narrow to expand it. I uninstalled illustrator and reinstalled it. First launch was fine, and then it resized itself on the second launch again. Has anyone else had this problem?

I recently upgraded my Mac OS to the wonderful 10.6, or Snow Leopard as it is called. Now, I receive an alert message when opening Illustrator CS3. The specific alert message is:
“FMCore has been stopped. Please start it from the System Preferences pane and then relaunch Adobe Illustrator CS3.”
Normally, I would completely understand what to do here; go to System Preferences and start FMCore. But, I can’t find FMCore anywhere. Now what?
I reinstalled CS3 from the disc, hoping that would “repair” FMCore, but it didn’t fix the problem. And I’ve searched high and low for an answer before posting here. But, apparently my problem is unique enough that nobody is talking about it.
Can anyone advise me on what I could/should do from here? I appreciate any help you might offer.

I am interested in trying out knowhow but don’t understand
where you download it?
It says its available for Engish versions of Illustrator CS3
(which I have) but I don’t see anywhere to download the actual
Knowhow program.
It has an area to download Illustrator CS3 to try
knowhow…..but what if you already have Illustrator CS3?
I did the little interactive demo thing but is there not a
full Knowhow program available for trial for current English CS3
users?
Thanks for your help

I have a Canon 5D2. there is an internal switch to shoot RAW files using the Adobe RGB profile. when I open a RAW image in CS4, there is no problem. yet when I open the DNG converted image in CS4, CS4 tells me the image has the ProPhoto color profile. I can convert back to Adobe RGB, but it adds an extra step and (I think probably) loses information. I looked for a switch in the DNG converter to speciy the color profile of the converted image, but could not find it. Any suggestions ?

The issue is that according to Portuguese Laws (and most of
the european laws), Access to data MUST be provided for the users
for correction and update.
Adobe is failing this by not allowing the update of the
“Address”, specifically, the country of the profile of the user.
I’ve asked nicelly to Adobe, to support mails, and even to
Adobe at Portugal.
Now, correct my profile and change the “address” from
Australia (where i was at the time) to Portugal (where i am now).
Thank you.
p.s.- Failure to do that will meet with judicial department
of data protection in Portugal to handle the matter. Thank
you.

I’m using the adobe web photo gallery, flash gallery 2 and I
want to slow down the time it takes for each photo to fade in. I’m
referring to the part that after the image preloader is done and
when the image is transitioning from white into the full image.
I’ve gone through the code but to no avail. Can someone help me
with this? Thanks!

In a previous post I mentioned that I never used tags. I know that tags are an important and useful feature of PSE. Perhaps someone can give me some ideas on how to go about tagging thousands of photos of wildflowers and ferns. I took photos of flowers and ferns many years before I got my first digital camera and before PSE. I had the photos printed and they fill many albums. When desktop scanners became available for my first PC, I began scanning the photos. I named the files by flower/fern name with a color initial and placed them in folders and subfolders by state/state park/date. I bought my first digital camera and purchased PSE 1. With the digital camera it became easy to escalate the number of photos I took. I am now using PSE8 and my 3rd digital camera. I have no idea how to go about tagging all those photos. It almost seems like I need a tag for each individual unique name, creating a tag tree like the folder tree I’ve been using. Perhaps it would be better but it would take me an awful long time to tag all those photos. I’m up in years and don’t want to spend that much time on bookkeeping. I’d rather enjoy the flowers while I still can.
Maybe I’m missing something here. Is there a simple way to do this?
Eva

I have PSE 6 and have been using it with windows home server (my photos are located there) with some issues (lockups, crashes etc…). I was thinking about upgrading to version 8 and wanted to know if this version works any better with the server. Does anyone have any experience they would like to share?
thx

PS gives message that CameraRaw 6.1 is avaiable, and there´s also an update for Bridge.
BUT THE UPDATE WON´T INSTALL, claiming another instance of Update is running. But there is no other instance running!!!
I´ve checked over and again, I´ve rebooted, I´ve searched and cleaned the registry, I´ve disabled all update services for other software and so on – and the damn thing still won´t install on my Windows Vista 32bit machine!
Uninstall CS5 and re-install? Don´t think so! I have the update version and have uninstalled previous versions so in order to re-install CS5 I´d have to install CS4 first (provided I can even find the proper key…) and then install CS5 and uninstall CS4 again and spend a couple of hours manually going through the registry to delete entries that haven´t been cleaned up and then hope the problem would be solved?
GIVE ME A BREAK!
Adobe fix this or send my money back!
