I’m new to Photoshop Elements (I’m using version 
and am trying to cut an image out of a rather busy background (a tabby cat in grass). Magic Extractor doesn’t make a particularly good job of it. The Magic Wand tool is great for selecting good size chunks of the image and it strikes me that a fairly straightfoward way of removing the cat from the background would be to use the Magic Wand tool to select areas of the image, cut them out and reconstruct them on a second canvas. I’ve duplicated the canvas but every time I paste into it the pasted object appears in the centre of the canvas. Is there any way I can paste an object into an (identical) canvas at the same coordinates it was cut from?
There’s probably a much easier way of doing this, but I am just starting out with PSE.
